Konyak Union (KU) has extended its full support to the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO)’s appeal to the state government to strictly uphold the spirit and provisions of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed on February 5, 2026, while passing the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) Bill, 2026.
In a letter to chief minister, KU president K Yamao Konyak and general secretary Wango Konyak described the MoA as a historic and significant step towards addressing the long-standing aspirations and developmental concerns of the people of Eastern Nagaland. KU emphasised that any legislative process concerning the FNTA must strictly reflect the letter and spirit of the MoA without any dilution.
The union cautioned that any deviation from the agreed terms could undermine the trust and confidence reposed by the people and other stakeholders in this important process.
KU, therefore, urged the state government to take necessary steps to safeguard the integrity of the MoA and ensure that the FNTA Bill, 2026 fully incorporated the commitments made therein. “This will go a long way in strengthening mutual trust, fostering unity, and paving the way for lasting peace, development, and progress in the region,” KU asserted.
The union expressed hope that the chief minister would uphold justice, fairness, and the genuine aspirations of the people of Eastern Nagaland.
