KU endorses ‘Naga Oxford declaration’ on repatriation

DIMAPUR, JUN 29 (NPN)

The Konyak Union (KU) has endorsed the Naga Oxford declaration on repatriation propounded by Naga tribal leaders at Pitt Rivers Museum, University of Oxford on June 13.
In a press release, Konyak Union president K Yamao Konyak and general secretary Wango Konyak also appreciated the initiative of the Forum of Naga Reconciliation (FNR) and sincerity of the Recover Restore and Decolonise (RRaD) to reclaim the human remains of Naga ancestors that were taken away without consent and were kept at the Pitt Rivers Museum.
They said they genuinely felt the need to give assent to the process of repatriation as they believed that it would give solace to the ancestors.
They prayed that may the Almighty God be with the process of repatriation and continue to give a guiding spirit throughout the journey, and the FNR and RRaD until the mission was accomplished.
