KU Mopong unit appeals for road restoration

DIMAPUR

Konyak Union (KU) Mopong unit has appealed to the state government to urgently restore landslide-affected road in Mopong Hongkong area under Mon district.
KU unit stated that heavy rainfall on August 24, 2025 triggered a major landslide, which completely severed the only motorable road connecting four villages—Yonghong, Changnyu, Yaphang, and Yei.
In a joint statement, Yonghong village council chairman M. Engo Konyak, Changnyu village council chairman Wangba, Yaphang village council chairman PL Wanmei and Yei village council chairman Leilhong informed that landslide, which occurred between Kenchenshu and Changnyu, washed away a critical 100-foot section of PWD road. They said the road was the sole lifeline for the villages.
Therefore, village council chairman of four villages and the civil societies of Mopong Hongkong have appealed to the state government and responsible authorities to immediately assess the damage and expedite the complete restoration of the vital road.
