KU Mopong unit seeks Kokpang–Yei road repair

Konyak Union Mopong Unit has appealed to the state government and the PWD (Roads & Bridges) department for urgent repair of the Kokpang Junction–Yei Village road in Mon district.
In a press release, the union said the 20-kilometre stretch is the only road connecting eleven villages including Ukha, Mopong EAC HQ, Kenjenshu, and Yei.
Despite its critical role in access to healthcare, education, and livelihood, the road has been left neglected for over twenty years.
The present condition of the road is described as “nearly impassable,” especially during monsoon, causing difficulties for commuters, school children, and patients.
The union therefore urged immediate allocation of funds and requested construction works such as drainage, soiling, metalling, earth cutting, retaining walls, and black-topping.
The release was jointly signed by KU Mopong Unit, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong, GBs Union, Mopong Hongkong Youth Organisation, and Mopong Hongkong Students’ Union.
