Konyak Union (Myanmar) Lahe Township Naga Self administered Zone has issued a clarification with regard to the gun-fight between Indian Army and NSCN (K) cadres Khonsa and Langkho village. In a statement, KU (Myanmar) president, S.A. Khotai and general secretary K. Honwang said besides shots being fired, the villages also heard a lot of explosions. The next day, KU (Myanmar) said villagers also found “many unexploded bombs along the paddy fields at Langkho”
It also alleged that the Indian army crossed into Myanmar and launched the attack inside Myanmar territory. The union said that the Eastern Konyak public demanded to know from the MPs, MLAs and peace committee of Myanmar government as to why they were keep quite on such issues. Despite making tall claims during elections to provide all round development, KU (Myanmar) said till date no MP/MLA had visited the public of these areas. The area has rather beenb turned into a battlefield, it said. The union further appealed to Indian forces and NSCN/GPRN not to create an atmosphere of fear and to desist from firing in civilian populated areas and to stop torturing the public by their activities.
