KU to observe Sept 1 as ‘Declaration Day’

Konyak Union (KU) would be observing September 1, 2016 as “Declaration Day” in banning harmful substances within its jurisdiction under the theme ‘preservation, protection and prevention of environment’ for clean environment and good health.
In a press note, president KU, S. Manlip Konyak and general secretary, Honang Konyak, informed that the resolution was in accordance to the resolution adopted during the KU general session and the subsequent deliberation on the issues pertaining to the ‘Preservation, protection and prevention of environment’, health hazard and other aquatic species etc within its jurisdiction.
The ‘Declaration day’ would be held at Mon town under the aegis of KU where all the Konyak frontal organizations, district administration, HODs, college and school students, ward presidents and general public are requested to attend the said declaration day without fail, KU informed.
KU shall also be restricting the use of substances such as commercial use of polythene bags, bleaching powder or any chemicals in the river or in any perennial streams, use of pesticide in any agricultural purposes and sale of non iodized salt in any commercial market within Mon district. 
“The stern move for restriction had been initiated so as to protect the hazardous effects caused by those chemical in our day to day life,” KU maintained.  In this regard, the union appealed and directed all the 11 units of the KU to organize and observe September1, 2016 by disseminating the very concept on preservation, protection and prevention of environment and health. 
KU further directed all the village councils, Konyak Loung and Anghs to observe the day in their respective villages by convening public meeting. The union also appealed all the churches to carefully disseminate the objectives and goals to the public.  
While appealing for cooperation, KU also fervently appealed to all its citizens to comply by restraining use of the substances declared as banned by the union.
