KU Tobu flays attack on AR

Not to cooperate with group involved

Against the backdrop of the wave of apprehension in Tobu area under Mon district, Konyak Union Tobu ( Tobu) branch through its president S. A Ngamlao has condemned the attack on Assam Rifles personnel by insurgents on May 25, where two were killed and four others injured.

While noting currency of the ongoing peace process, KU Tobu termed the attack as an act of violence which has been condemned by the public of Tobu area. KU branch on behalf of Tobu area public also expressed resentment on the disruption of peace and making Tobu area as a target zone for violence. 

KU branch said people of Tobu area cannot bear such violence and anti-peace activities their soil any longer. In view of the attack on the security personnel, the union has declared non-cooperation to the group involved in the recent attack since Naga freedom was not at Tobu area soil which should not turn it into a battle ground for any vengeance. 

Ngamlao stated that the people of Tobu area support and affirm Naga peace process and shall not tolerate such inhuman anti-peace activities in its land. It further extended condolences to the bereaved families.

On May 25, two personnel of the 40 Assam Rifles (AR) deployed in Tobu under Mon district were killed while four others sustained injuries in an ambush by suspected NSCN (K) militants from across the border. near Thanyak hydro project, between Tobu and Ukha villages.
