DIMAPUR: Kuda Village Council expressed shock and surprise upon learning of the existence of a forum under the name “Business Owners Forum, Nagarjan Dimapur.”
In a clarification note, the council noted that a press release dated September 10, 2026, purportedly issued by the said forum, claimed to “strongly and unequivocally object” to the United Colony Council’s reported resolution seeking to ban business unions and associations within the colony. Clarifying its position, the Council stated that it has no knowledge whatsoever of any organisation known as “Business Owners Forum, Nagarjan Dimapur.” It added that the use of “Nagarjan”-the erstwhile name of Kuda Village-by the forum to indicate its location was misleading and unauthorised.
The Council informed that Kuda Village, originally established in 1941, reverted to its original name from Nagarjan in 2008, following approval by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and subsequent notification by the Government of Nagaland. It further stated that under Section 15(a) of the Nagaland Village and Tribal Councils Act, 1978, no organisation is permitted to use the name “Kuda Village” or “Nagarjan” without written permission from the Council. Any organisation doing so without authorisation would be acting at its own risk and attract penal provisions. The Council urged the public to take note of this clarification in the interest of maintaining law and order within the jurisdiction of the village.
