Konyak Union Myanmar (KUM) has reiterated its appeal to Nagas in general to help its members stranded in Nagaland and allow them to remain at Nagaland quarantine centres during COVID-19 pandemic.
In a press release, KUM president, S.A .Khotai and general secretary, K. Honwang pointed out the India-Myanmar border remained undeveloped as both the country had neglected the areas inhabited by the Nagas along the border.
KUM said the Nagas of this region have been sacrificing for the Naga national movement and the national workers for which till date the region was deprived of medical infrastructure, medical facilities and health professionals apart from other developments like road, schools etc. Therefore, the union has reiterated its appeal to Konyak Union Mon, Nagaland, KU units across Nagaland and other apex tribal bodies to ensure protection and proper treatment of Myanmar Konyak Nagas who are working as domestic helpers or wage labourers in Nagaland.
