
Konyak UnionMyanmar (KUM) has stated that it was instrumental in having one Chetan, who was released by NSCN(K) after being held captive when he strayed inside Konyak area in Myanmar.
KUM president S.A.Khotai and general secretary K.Honwang stated that Chetan arrived Chen Loiye village within Konyak area in Myanmar after straying beyond Longwa village on August 24.
KUM said Chetan went to the area without the knowledge of any one nor had any connection with any of the people in the area. He was caught by NSCN(K) for violation of unlawful intrusion without any valid identity.
KUM said it was a dangerous situation and it intervened and requested NSCN(K) to release Chetan.
KUM said also saved Chetan from facing consequences of illegal trespass as per ‘revolutionary law’ in order to maintain peace in the area though he(chetan) had strayed into another territory without any genuine permit of reasons.
KUM said that after four days, it took Chetan to Longwa to the house of the Angh where he was later handed over to Konyak Union India. KUM also appealed to all Indian citizens to acknowledge the efforts of the KUM in securing the safe release of Chetan and that those from Eastern Konyak Naga area to be aware.
KUM said the eastern Konyaks of Myanmar also appreciate the NSCN government for heeding to the plea of Eastern Konyak Union Myanmar by handing over Chetan to EKUM president without harm and on humanitarian grounds.
