
In view of the golden jubilee celebration of Kumlong Ward Mokokchung, a massive cleanliness drive was undertaken in the colony on September 28, initiated by the golden jubilee planning committee (GJPC), the ward council and supported by the Kumlong environment committee and the Kumlong Lanur Telongjem (Kumlong Youth Union) where they cleaned the whole colony.
A press release from Kumlong Ward GJPC member Langrangty Longchar stated that the citizens also cleared the footpaths to ancient “Kumlong” rock, located about a kilometer downhill from the Kumlong inhibition. Kumlong Ward, one of the oldest colony in Mokokchung town, has undertaken the preservation of environment as one of its priority.
Chairman of Kumong Ward Council, Lanu Imchen expressed gratitude to all who partook in the cleanliness programmes.
Convenor of Kumlong GJPC, C. Tia Longkumer, also expressed gratitude to the Kumlong environment committee, Kumlong Lanur Telongjem and others for their help in making the Kumlong colony a model ward in the town.
The grand golden jubilee programme will be held on October 8.
