Kuda Village ‘B’ Khel Council (KVBKC) has expressed outrage over the “relentless dumping” of garbage in its area on the Dhansiri Kuda Bridge by unknown miscreants despite repeated warnings and billboards notifications strictly prohibiting dumping of garbage.
In a press release, council chairman Ketusilie Sakhrie stated that recently the village youth had apprehended some culprits and reprimanded/ fined them as penalty for deterrent.
KVBKC said it was found that people residing far away from Kuda village had been dumping their waste and garbage surreptitiously on regular basis.
The council stated that the modus operandi of the culprits was to throw the garbage out from moving cars while driving past the bridge during dawn or late night when the spot was virtually deserted.
KVBKC stated that garbage has piled up again to present an ugly stinking sight to public commuting the bridge. To deter the blatant act of dumping garbage, the council stated that the youth were entrusted to erect temporary shed used as butcher counters at both ends of the bridge.
However, KVBKC expressed surprise that a certain “engineer” reportedly prevented the use of a butcher counter at the end of the bridge, which has now become a garbage dump again.
In this regard, the council has stated that village youth organization would be directed to maintain daily activity at both ends by using the counters to prevent and deter unscrupulous miscreants from dirtying the bridge and to apprehend anyone found violating dumping of garbage.
Therefore, the council has warned that any person caught or traced violating prohibition of garbage throwing at the bridge would be severely fined as deterrent penalty.
It said that such fines would be used to defray the costs of clearing and keeping the spot clean and free from garbage.
The council has also appealed to all responsible not to dump garbage along the bridge ends, or anywhere not specified as garbage site, failing which culprits would be liable to be fined or publicly expose through social media for awareness.
