Kuda Village Council (KVC) convened a special village council meeting (VCM) on July 30 at the Council Hall to deliberate on the pressing issue of illegal immigrants, emphasizing its long-term adverse ramifications on Naga society and the urgent need for collective action.
In a press release, KVC stated that after thorough discussions, the house unanimously passed several key resolutions, affirming its support for and solidarity with the public and government’s ongoing efforts to combat and eradicate the illegal influx of Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants (IBIs) into Nagaland from outside the state.
As a proactive step, KVC resolved to form a Village Census Board under the aegis of KVC to conduct a comprehensive internal census within its jurisdiction. This initiative is aimed at maintaining up-to-date records of all residents and will be spearheaded by the Kuda Youth Club, under the leadership of its president, Rüüzhalie Nagi, along with his colleagues and Khel Youth presidents from all khels.
The census board would have a team of advisors, whose primary role will be advisory in nature to advise, assist and guide proper flow of internal census.
The meeting further resolved that all new arrivals/tenants in the village jurisdiction since July 23, 2025 must obtain verification certificate from respective Khel chairman, it has also informed all village citizens to be vigilant of movement of new persons and report such incidents to KVC officials or respective khel chairman and GBs.
In the interest of communal security, KVC appealed to all residents of Kuda village to cooperate fully with the Village Census Board. It also issued a stern warning that any individuals found harbouring strangers or recently evicted persons will be subject to action deemed appropriate by the Council.
