The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has disbursed Rs. 300 crore in margin money subsidy to 11,480 service sector beneficiaries across India under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). The subsidy, released against a loan sanction of Rs. 906 crore, was disbursed through a virtual event held at Rajghat, New Delhi, on June 17, 2025.
Of this amount, Rs. 2 crore was allocated for 81 projects in the Northeastern region, including Nagaland, a DIPR report stated.
Since its inception, PMEGP has supported the establishment of over 10 lakh micro-enterprises, with total loan sanctions reaching Rs. 73,348 crore. More than 90 lakh individuals have gained direct and indirect employment through the scheme, reinforcing its role as a key self-employment initiative.
