Towards encouraging cultivation of fallow fields after harvest, KVK Dimapur initiated front line demonstrations on linseed varieties varieties Ruchi, Padmini, Sharda and Parvati. As a follow up programme KVK Dimapur, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema, conducted field day on linseed variety Ruchi and Wheat variety DBW-107 with active participation of 64 farmers at Seithekima A village on March 17.
Cluster demonstrations were given on an approximate 30 hectare under on oilseed and pulses and AICRP on linseed and wheat variety DBW-107 in area of 10 hectare under National Food Security Mission (NFSM) sponsored by directorate of Wheat Research, Karnal covering 8 villages of 4 rural blocks viz., Medziphema, Kuhuboto, Dhansiripar and Niuland blocks of Dimapur district.
Under this programme trainings were imparted to the farmers on cultivation and management practices of wheat and oilseeds along with technical input supports like seeds, fertilizers and plant protection chemicals.
During the programme farmers were taken to the linseed and wheat demonstration fields and showed the benefits in cultivation of linseed and wheat as second crop utilizing the residual moisture in the soil after the harvest of paddy for achieving self sufficiency in cereals and oilseeds production particularly linseed and wheat during rabi season in the district.
