KVK Dimapur observes Poshan Pakhwada

KVK Dimapur celebrated the 7th Poshan Pakhwada 2025 across different villages in Chumukedima and Dimapur districts, under the initiative of KVK Dimapur, ICAR Nagaland Centre, Senior Scientist and Head, Dr. Phool Kumari.


As part of the initiative, various programmes were conducted from April 8 to 22, at Vihokhu Village, NCHD & IT Office Dimapur, Dhansiripar Village, and Naga United Village.

The programme concluded at Tsuma Village, led by Programme Coordinator Dr. Chingakham Sima Chanu, Subject Matter Specialist (Home Science), along with CTO, Plant Breeding and Genetics, Dr. Bendangla Imsong, Programe Assistant Dr. Moanaro, and CTO, Animal Science, Dr. Ebibeni Ngullie.


A total of 157 farmers and farm women participated in the events. Awareness was created on nutrition topics like the first 1,000 days, maternal health, and balanced diets.

Participants also received counselling on hypertension and diabetes. Nutritional screening was done for 112 women aged 20–50 years, including BMI, waist-hip ratio, and blood pressure.

According to WHO Classification of Body Mass index (BMI) for Asian women, the screening results showed 77 were overweight/obese, 34 had normal BMI, and one had chronic energy deficiency. Most had high waist-hip ratios and half showed signs of prehypertension or hypertension. Additionally, 2,000 tomato saplings were distributed to the farmers.
