KVK Kohima conducts training-cum-awareness programme

A training-cum-awareness and sensitization programme on “Protection Of Plant Varieties and Farmers Rights Act” was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kohima on March 27, sponsored by Protection & Plant Varieties and Farmers Authority, New Delhi.
A press release from KVK Kohima, senior scientist and head, Dr. V. Akashe Zhimomi stated that Dr. Manoj Sachan, ACTO (PB&G) KVK Mon, when speaking as the resource person, highlighted the importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Geographical Indication (GI) and Plants Gene Bank. He further encouraged individual farmers, community members and groups to register their crops as it protected the identity of the crops.
Bendang Aier AGM & DDM (NABARD), in his short speech, also spoke about registering the different varieties of crops saying that Farmers Club could contribute towards this end. 
Ninty-nine farmers from 10 villages participated in the programme which was chaired by Dr. V. Akashe Zhimomi, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Khekali Sema ACTO KVK Kohima.
