KVK Longleng conducts 6th Scientific Advisory Committee meeting

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Longleng held its 6th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting on February 26 at the DC’s conference hall, graced by DC Longleng, John Tsulise Sangtam as chief guest. 

A press release from KVK Longleng stated that John Sangtam, in his speech urged all line department of the district to attend any such meetings in the future for the welfare of the farming community. He suggested that it would be a good idea to identify specific crops or products which have export potential, and to identify  crops or technology which can be adopted for the farmers’ profit. 
He also appreciated the work of KVK Longleng and instructed line departments to conduct follow up and collaborative work with KVK Longleng.
Scientist (Horticulture), ICAR Nagaland centre, Medziphema, Abon Yanthan, chairing the technical session suggested ideas of preparing kitchen garden kits (seeds, bio-pesticides etc.,) for different seasons, inviting marketing experts during skill development trainings, and focusing on disease and quality  parameters of Horticultural crops.
Yingli College principal, K. Hokheto Sumi, spoke on importance of market linkages in the district where farmers can fetch good returns from their produce.
The program was compeered by ACTO (Horticulture), Dr. R. K. Roshan; a welcome speech was delivered by technical officer (H/S), Thungchano S Ezung; a progress report of KVK Longleng for the year 2018-2019 was presented by SMS (A/S), Dr. Lily Ngullie; an action plan for the year 2019-2020 was presented by senior scientist & head KVK Longleng, Dr. K L Meena; and a vote of thanks was delivered by SRF KVK Longleng, Namei A. 
The meeting was attended by allied departments like ATMA, NSRLM, Horticulture, veterinary & AH and progressive farmers from different villages.
