KVK Mon holds STRY for youths

KVK, Mon organised an intensive weeklong Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) programme on “soil conservation” at its premises from August 23 to 29, in association with National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad for rural youth under Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, India.

A press release from KVK Mon stated that, during the training, resource person Imtinuksung, SMS (soil conservation) delivered lecture and power point presentation on various topics. Hito Sema, ADC, Aboi, Mon as chief guest encouraged the participants to be progressive farmers while focusing on commercial farming practices to generate additional income and continue producing organic crops.

Hands on demonstration on bamboo binding, laying out of contour lining by using A-frame method and mulching by using weed substrate as measures to control soil erosion were carried out. Participants were also shown videos on soil conservation measures.

The valedictory function was chaired by Imtinuksung, welcome speech by Kevi Medom, TO (Computer), followed by summarisation of the weeklong programme by the course director. Certificates were distributed and word of thanks was given by Myingthungo Murry, TO (Farm). Altogether 15 rural youths participated in the programme.

On the first day, the inauguration programme was chaired by Dr. Manoj Singh Sachan, ACTO (GPB) and Imtinuksung briefed about STRY training programme.
