Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tuensang, as part of Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign, organized a village level awareness program on better sanitation practices like using a toilet, hand-washing, health and hygiene awareness, etc. at Government High School, Kuthur village, Tuensang on September 27.
A press release from KVK Tuensang stated that Pakom Phom, SDO (C) Tuensang, deliberating on the activities of Swachhta Hi Sewa, encouraged the Kuthur Village Council, teachers and students of the school to practice better sanitation practices in and around the village and the school campus. He also applauded the school administration for maintaining a clean campus. A talk on the topic ‘Awareness of clean sanitation practices’ was delivered by Dr. Shisarenla Aier, subject matter specialist (Horticulture), where she emphasised on personal hygiene which creates a sound mind ultimately leading to excellence in one’s life.
Waste bins of three colours were also donated by KVK (green for wet disposal i.e organic waste, blue for dry disposal i.e recyclable waste, and red for reject waste i.e non biodegradable waste).
The program was chaired by Tokiho Achumi, assistant chief technical officer (Agronomy), KVK Tuensang. Altogether 147 participants attended the program which included students, teachers, church leaders, village council members, two members from administration and staff of KVK Tuensang.
