
Krishi Vigyan Kendra Mon (Aboi) Nagaland organized a two-day Swachhata Hi Seva (drinking water, sanitation and personnel hygiene), field days and training program on “Production technology of rapeseed and pea” under the theme of resource conservation technologies on October 2 and 3 at KVK campus Aboi & Ngangching village under National Innovations Climate Resilient in Agriculture-Technology Demonstration Component (NICRA-TDC).
A press release by KVK Mon, Aboi, stated that KVK assistant chief technical officer (Plant Breeding), Dr. Manoj Singh Sachan showed demonstrations of Direct Seeding Rice (DSR) technology variety IR-36, and soybean variety JS-335 at seed production plot in relation to climate change during the course of the field day.
Moreover, double or sequential cropping systems were also highlighted and the farmers were encouraged to grow winter crops such as pea, mustard, winter maize, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, tomato, chilli, beans, etc after harvesting of paddy, maize, soybean and other kharif crops. Altogether, 24 practicing farmers and farm women benefitted from the program. Seeds, critical input and hygienic materials were also distributed among the farmers.
