KVK Peren organises vocational training

KVK Peren, ICAR RC for NEH region, Nagaland centre, Jalukie conducted a week long vocational training programme for rural youths on “poultry farming for entrepreneurship development” at St. Xavier college, Jalukie town from September 21 to 27. 

A press release by KVK Peren stated that the aim of the training was to inform participants about the scopes of entrepreneurship development and scientific knowledge in details regarding poultry farming and management.

The release stated that during the technical session, course coordinator and head, KVK Peren, Dr. L. Babita Devi delivered lectures on various topics such as why and how of poultry farming, backyard poultry production with improved breeds, care and management of brooder chicks and broiler, health care and disease management and others.

Hands on training on vaccination of poultry, low cost poultry house construction, brooding management, administration of medicine was also done.

The youths were also made aware of the importance of record keeping, feed storage and different medicines for health care in poultry. Altogether 21 Rural Youths attended the week long programme. 

Earlier during the valedictory session, principal, St. Xavier college, Jalukie Fr. Francis encouraged participants to take full opportunities of the training and its practical application for entrepreneurship development in poultry farming. 

The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates and training manual.
