Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Phek, ICAR-NRCM celebrated World Soil Day under theme, “Stop Erosion, Save our future” on December 5 at Chakhesang Mission Centre Church.
A press release by KVK Phek stated that delivering an oral presentation on soil health management, ACTO (soil science), KVK-Phek, Dr. T. Esther Longkumer emphasised on different on various soil conservation method.
EAC Sakraba, Abeinuo Jasmine Ashao appraised the gathering on the effect of climate change and to mitigate through safe disposal of waste. Branch Manager, SBI Pfutsero, W Onesimus, encouraged the farmers for financial inclusion in agriculture and allied activities while executive director, Chakhesang Women Welfare Society, Pfutsero, Vechulo-u Kanuo, urged the participants to take up organic farming for improving the soil fertility status as well as for human well being.
Soil Health Cards were distributed to the farmers of four villages. A farmer-scientist interaction programme was conducted followed by distribution of vermicompost packets to the participants.
