
KVK Phek, ICAR-NRCM sponsored by NABARD, Dimapur organised exposure-cum-hands on training for progressive farmers of Phek district on vermicomposting technology, cultivation of vegetable crops under protected cultivation at ICAR-RCNEHR, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema and shitake mushroom production at Konger Agritech, Dimapur from December 12-16.
CTO-Soil Science, KVK Phek, ICAR-NRCM, Dr. T Esther Longkumer informed that on the first day, scientist, ICAR, Nagaland centre, Medziphema Dr Azeze Seyie explained the importance of protected cultivation to the participants followed by field visit.
The team also visited ICAR-NRC on Mithun where principal scientist Dr N Haque explained salt licking block, mineral mixture and feed block for animals.
On the second day, farmers visited ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre farm where CTO and farm manager Dr LJ Bordoloi explained the importance of vermicomposting. Scientist, ICAR, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema, Dr Christy BK Sangma presented organic farming and its scope in the Region while mushroom expert, Director, Konger Agritech Dr Sosang Longkumer talked on importance of shiitake oyster mushroom. Altogether 25 farmers participated in the exposure cum training programme.
