KVK Phek, Wka observe ‘Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan’

KVK Phek organized ‘Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan’ Diwas from December 23 to 29 at Porba village of Phek district. 
As part of the Diwas, a function was organised wherein various experts spoke on scientific methods of farming and demonstrated modern farming techniques.
Programme coordinator, KVK Phek, Dr. R. K. Singh, briefed about Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan Diwas. 
Shekhozo VCC Porba village emphasized on the importance of science in farming activities and development of the farming community. 
Deputy director, School Education, Nagaland, Vedovo Chiero spoke on scientific farming in the field of agriculture and allied activities. 
Dr. Debojyoti Borkotoky, SMS (Animal Science) explained on scientific rabbit farming. SMS (Plant Protection), Liza Barua Bharali, highlighted on organic approach to pest and disease management of crops.
Various activities such as farmer scientist interaction, technology showcasing on scientific strawberry cultivation, protected cultivation technology were the highlights of the weeklong Diwas. 
A drawing competition was also organized in KVK office where 15 students participated.
Earlier, the programme started with welcome speech by Dr. Rinku Bharali, ACTO (Horticulture). 
All together 67 farmers participated from the village during the programme. 
KVK Wokha: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Wokha, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre organied Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan from December 23 to 29 at its campus. 
Five different activities were conducted under JKJV which included farmers scientist interaction with 38 participants, 2 lectures with 31, one farm visit with 25 and demonstration of farm implements with 32 participants. Technology week is being celebrated from December 23 to 30. 
Under technology week, the activities carried out are method demonstration, farmers scientist interaction, lectures, film Shows, farm visits, distribution of 156 numbers of literature, 100 numbers planting materials (King chilli), 100 packet of bio products, 500 number of chicks, 6 number of piglets, sprayer, silpaulin sheet.
Meanwhile, in a separate programme, ATMA Wokha block conducted “field day on winter vegetables” at Wokha village on December 20 with BTT convenor, Zuthunglo Erui as the resource person.
Zuthunglo explained about the concept of field day to the farmers and also encouraged them to share their experiences.
One progressive farmer, Kimongi Murry shared how the improved package practices on winter vegetables imparted by ATMA have helped her in reaping good profits. She further appealed the department to continuously support them. 
Earlier the program was chaired by ATM Wokha Nzanbeni Jami. Altogether 9 farmers attended the programme.
