KVK Zbto, NABARD launch Kadaknath poultry project

DIMAPUR: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Zunheboto, Nagaland University, organized an Input Distribution Programme under the NABARD sponsored Farmers’ Support Programme Fund (FSPF) project “Empowering Rural Women through Kadaknath Poultry Farming: A Sustainable Approach to Livelihood and Nutrition” at VK Town, Akuluto, Zunheboto district on June 12. 2026.
The programme was graced by Tiayanger Jamir, ADC Akuluto, as chief guest, and Poji, District Development Manager NABARD, as special guest. Chaired by Narola Anichari, Senior Technical Officer (Home Science), the event began with an invocation by Hekuto, pastor of Maromi village.
Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia, Programme Coordinator & Head, KVK Zunheboto, highlighted the project’s objectives, stressing the role of Kadaknath poultry in improving household nutrition, income generation and women’s empowerment. Beneficiaries from Sastami, Maromi and Ajiqami villages expressed gratitude and pledged to make the initiative successful.
ADC Jamir lauded the intervention, urging women to adopt improved practices and explore value addition and branding to maximize profits. He assured administrative support through convergence with allied departments. NABARD’s DDM emphasized that Kadaknath introduction is unique in the district and state, offering premium quality meat and eggs with strong market potential.
Essential inputs including Kadaknath chicks, feeds, medicines, drinkers and feeders were distributed to 45 women beneficiaries. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from Naropongla, Senior Technical Officer (Farm), reaffirming KVK and NABARD’s commitment to sustainable agriculture, nutrition security and women led rural development.
