Krishi Vigyan Kedras (KVK) organised “Sankalp se siddhi” in various districts across Nagaland as a clarion call to farmers to double their income by 2022.
KVK Phek: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Phek, ICAR-NRC on Mithun Phek organised the programme at Porba village community hall on August 30 with MP, KG Kenye as the chief guest and ADG, ICAR, Dr. R.S Gandhi as guest of honour.
A press note by KVK Phek and ICAR-NRC on Mithun Phek stated that, KG Kenye said, Nagaland being an agrarian state could contribute towards the New India movement by adopting organic farming. He acknowledged the achievements of KVK-Phek and NRC on Mithun for their incessant effort to enhance the socio-economic condition of the farmers.
ADG Animal Science (AP&B), Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, Dr. R.S Gandhi emphasized that livestock being the important component in the hill states had lot of potential that needed to be exploited. He intimated the house on various government schemes that is being implemented.
Director, ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Nagaland, Dr. Abhijit Mitra stressed on semi intensive rearing of Mithun and urged to conserve the healthy and well-built male bulls for further genetic improvement of the stock.
VCC Porba, Sekhozo expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the chief guest, guest of honour, director, ICAR-NRC on Mithun for gracing the occasion. A film show and message of prime was screened. Vote of thanks was delivered by senior scientist and head, KVK-Phek, Dr RK Singh.
KVK Mon: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Mon organized the programme on August 19, at KVK campus, Aboi with parliamentary secretary, Art and Culture, Eshak Konyak as chief guest.
Chief guest drew the attention of the participants to the urgent need of reform and transformation of oneself for doubling income by 2022.
He emphasized to the participants to treat their field and garden as their best friend, whereby they could achieve their goal by 2022. 4th Kumaon Regiment, Major Mohan Chandra urged the farmers to double their income and fulfil the dreams of “Father of Nation” India.
SMS (GPB) Dr. Manoj Singh Sachan, highlighted the Sankalp Se Siddhi. Kowang Konyak, E.E PWD (R&B), Aboi urged the KVK Mon to guide the farmers technically in regard to agriculture and allied sectors. A short Kisan film was shown to the participants to encourage them.
The participants took the New India pledge led by the chief guest, in the programme chaired by senior scientist and head, Dr. R. Mezhatsu, welcome address by Dr. Paihem Michui, subject matter specialist (Vety & A.H) followed by release of an extension bulletin by the chief guest. Altogether, 176 participants representing 4th Kumoan Regiment, Agri & allied departments of the district, social organizations, NGOs, village level institutions and practicing farmers attended. Vote of thanks was delivered by SMS (Soil Conservation), Imtinuksung.
KVK, VK Town: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Zunheboto, Nagaland University organised the programme at V.K. town in Zunheboto district on August 30.
Chief guest, parliamentary secretary youth resource & sports and music task force, Khekaho Assumi explained that KVKs and ATMA can only give technological intervention but it was the farmers who would have to harvest the benefit.
Project director ATMA, Zhekheto urged farmers to select crops based on their needs while professor, department of political science, John Sema urged the farmers to maintain a corruption free system.
Welcome address was delivered by SMS(Agronomy & GPB) Dr. Visakho Shunyum, a talk on strategies to double farmers income was delivered by SMS (Agri Extension) Dr. Kunadan Kumar and message of agricultural minister was read out by Edenly Chishi. A pledge on Sankalp Se Siddhi in Sumi dialect was read out by Khekaho Assumi and vote of thanks was delivered by sr. scientist & head, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia. A total of 173 participants participated the day long programme.
KVK Kohima: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kohima held the programme based on “seven-point strategies”, graced by ADC, Tseminyu Theodore Yanthan as chief guest. He spoke on the challenges of farming and encouraged the farmers including the young participants to become successful agripreneur. Kenyuseng Tep, president Rengma Hoho who was guest of honour also encouraged the gathering to come together and work hand in hand for the betterment of society. Imtisenla scientist KVK kohima dealt at length on the significance of the programme. New India Manthan Pledge was administered by Khekali Sema scientist KVK Kohima, vote of thanks was delivered by Zhiete scientist KVK Kohima while K. Michael Pienyu scientist KVK kohima chaired the programme. The participants included village chairman, secretary, farmers’ club members, farmers, youths, bankers, NGOs and government officials.
KVK Dimapur: A one-day programme on Sankalp Se Siddhi was organised by KVK Dimapur in collaboration with ATMA, Dimapur, at ICAR research complex for NEH region, Medziphema on August 30.
Chief guest, ADC Medziphema, Vikhweno Chale, appealed the farmers to develop a zeal to learn and accept new technologies.. She added that non-repayment of the loans was another form of corruption due to which nowadays banking institutions have become strict in their procedures.
In his welcome address joint director, ICAR Nagaland, Dr. D.J. Rajkhowa highlighted the various research and extension activities of the centre.
Dean SASRD, Medziphema, Nagaland University professor, A. Makar in his remark told that “we” need to adopt seven point strategies for doubling the farmer’s income by 2022, while guest of honour, director SAMETI and principal IETC, Medziphema Dr. I. Amenla appealed to the extension workers, researchers and other governmental departments to come together and reach out so that the income of farmers could be doubled.
AGM, NABARD, A.C. Biswas informed that an amount of Rs. 4,38,000 crores have been kept for developmental activities in Nagaland.
Vote of thanks was delivered by principal scientist and head KVK Dimapur, Dr Anamika Sharma. Thejano Mukritsü, a progressive farmer of Seithikima-A village was felicitated in recognition of her achievement of the Pandit Deen Dayal Antodaya Krishi Puruskar (zonal) Zone VII. A total of 300 persons participated including officials from the government of Nagaland.
KVK Mokokchung: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Mokokchung organized the one-day programme on August, 29 at Sungratsu village panchayat hall with DDM, NABARD Mokokchung branch, Amarjit.
Amarjit explained different farmers related schemes and programme. Senior scientist and head, Dr. Pijush Kanti Biswas, addressed read out the message given by Prime Minister.
SMS (Plant Breeding and Genetics), Bendangjungla highlighted the guidelines of the doubling. The programme was inaugurated by Sungratsu village council chairman, Taka Longchar who also spoke on the occasion.
SMS (Agronomy), Samuel Sangtam handled the Sankalp se Siddhi pledge taking ceremony and the entire programme was coordinated by Ruyosu Nakro.
Earlier, the program was chaired by Dr. Rongsen, Dr. Ruopfuselhou briefed participants about importance of doubling the farmers income and Sankalp se Siddhi concept. Vote of thanks was delivered by SMS (Horticulture), Renbomo. Altogether 180 farmers participated in the programme.
