Kohima Village Students’ Union (KVSU) Night School, since its inception, has been running with a vision to empower students and impart quality education.

At present, KVSU runs four Night Schools across Kohima Village, serving as a beacon of hope for the students. As a non-profit organization, the school focuses on the all-round development of the student community and uplifting their living standards. Apart from teaching the students, the school also engages them in extracurricular activities.

Highlighting the school’s vision, KVSU general secretary, Albert Seluokuolie Rutsa, said the school aims to deliver quality education in an “engaging manner”, and the school focuses on holistic development, including character building and social skills enhancement through extracurricular activities.

Rutsa mentioned that each Night School typically hosts around 80 students annually, supported by approximately ten committed teachers and over 30 unit executives and volunteers assisting in various capacities.

Despite facing financial hurdles, he said KVSU was committed to providing quality education and is actively seeking innovative solutions to ensure the sustainability and success of the Night School.
He said the Night School has been sustained through the support and contributions of the community, well-wishers and local MLAs.

In 2023, Rutsa said Miraculum Society Nagaland, through its Sachü Scholarship Programme, sponsored four students. He said Kohima Village Students’ Union was currently focused on securing sponsorships to motivate students in their academic pursuits and introducing skill development training to broaden their career opportunities.
