Valedictory function of the training for the ’38th Batch Secretariat Service Foundation Course’ that started on May 12 was held on July 30 at the Administrative Training Institute with chief secretary Lalhuma, IAS as the chief guest.
Lalhuma, speaking to participants of the 3 months training course for Office Assistants said that a strong foundation is important and useful for proper perception of the job. He encouraged the trainees that even if they are placed in different departments, they should be able to cope with the different subjects that departments are associated with. He urged them to remember that they are government servants and as such they should be very good in dealings with the public and lend a ready helping hand. He reminded that many people come from distant districts such as Tuensang, Mon and other places.
Referring to capacity building, Lalhuma said that it is for efficient delivery of better services to the public. He urged government servants to change their attitude themselves and corrupt practices in offices should be shunned by everyone.
He encouraged the trainees not only to depend on just passing in the promotion exam but also have high ambition in life and urged them to continue studying the important things they learned during the training.
To a suggestion made by the trainees about redesignating their post of LDA (NSSA) to Junior Assistant, the Chief Secretary informed that Service Rules for NSSA is likely to be revised. He also gave away prize to one of the trainees, T. Kiumukam Yimchungru, who secured 100% in attendance during the three months course training. Lalhuma congratulated all the trainees for their performance in the exam.
Commissioner and Secretary, P&AR, C.J. Ponraj complimented the trainees for displaying their talents and articulation. He said that to progress in one’s career, a person needs two kinds of skills – field experience and area of specialization, for the benefit of the people. He also stressed on the need of understanding the three aspects of diversity, complexity and dynamism.
He stated that the objective of this training is to equip participants with procedures, rules and regulations of the government so as to help them in discharging their duties in day to day functions efficiently and effectively.
Earlier, Commissioner & Secretary, Higher Education and Director ATI, F.P. Solo, while delivering the welcome address expressed his appreciation to the Chief Secretary for gracing the function as chief guest, which shows his great concern for skill upgradation of the staff. The total trainees were 38 out of which 20 gents and 8 ladies.
