Lamhainamdi murder case: NZPO demands trial of main accused

Nagaland Zeliang People Organisation (NZPO) has appealed to DGP Nagaland to expeditiously begin trial of the main accused involved in the murder of three persons of Lamhainamdi village on March 22, 2021.

In a representation to DGP Nagaland, NZPO Kevipele Iheilung claimed that the main accused ‘brig.’ Puica Achumi alias (Phuyeka Achumi) who had been evading arrest, was recently apprehended by 43 Assam Rifles personnel and handed over to Diphupar Police Station, Chümoukedima.

NZPO said that the accused has been booked under various sections of the Arms Act and currently under the custody of Diphupar PS. In this regard, NZPO urged DGP to urgently proceed with his trial in public interest and in the interest of justice.

“Now that the said accused is in police custody, it is imperative in the interest of justice to arrest him in connection with the SCPS Case No. 02/21 U/S 302/120B/188/34 IPC R/W 251A/27(3) Arms Act and proceed with the trial with urgency, giving no scope for his release on bail,” NZPO stated.
