Land Resource Department organises inter-district tour

In order to alleviate common practices and to gain more knowledge on different methods of field activities implemented by different districts of the state under various schemes and project, Land Resource Department (LRD) under Longleng and Peren district organized inter-district departmental tour from February 16 to 17.

According to a press release, a two day inter-district field tour programme for Longleng and Peren district was hosted by the LRD, Longleng.
Six members each from the two districts took part in the tour to various projects implemented in Longleng district. The teams were led by DPO Longleng, K. Kughalu Chishi and DPO Peren, Alemla Aier.
The team members visited activities implemented under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) a watershed development component project-VIll, under batch-VI (PMKSY-WDC, erstwhile IWMP) at Yongam village and inspected coffee plantation, black pepper plantation and arecanut plantation. 
Under soil and moisture conservation works, the team visited water harvesting structures and gully plugs and inspected springshed based watershed development programme implemented at Dungkhao village, sponsored by NABARD.  The team also visited Agroforestry plantations undertaken and developed by covering nine hectares of land and 800 numbers of staggered contour trenches and dugout ponds constructed in the potential recharge zone of Amchongyung and Dungkangyung for springs rejuvenation. 
At Mongtikang village, the team inspected some of the activities undertaken such as half-moon terrace, orange and rubber plantation, sugarcane cultivation etc which was implemented under PMKSY-WDC project-VI under batch-V.
Assistant inspector, Land Resource Department Peren, also emphasised on stem borer complication and pest management in litchi and orange orchards at Mongtikang village.
While interacting with farmers and beneficiaries at Yongam and Mongtikang village, district project officer Peren, Alemla Aier encouraged the farmers especially the youths and women folk to take up farming and other agri/horti related activities. 
The visiting officer also lauded the farmers of Longleng district especially the farmers from Yongam, Dungkhao and Mongtikang villages for carrying out activities according to the instruction for implementation. She added that the activities implemented by farmers of Longleng district would be replicated and taught to farmers back in their district. 
Before their landing in Longleng district, the Peren team also toured Mon district on February 15 where they inspected tea plantation, rubber, coffee etc. at Sangsa, Phuktong and Chi villages under Tizit block.
