Department of Land Resources led by director MhathungYanthan along with joint directors T. Renben Lotha and A. Pangjung Jamir and other officers from the directorate and district inspected the ongoing projects in the border areas of Tuensang district from January 11-16.
The tour party covered 10 villages- Logkitpeh, Noklak, Nokyan ‘B’, Sanglao Kingjung, Wui, Kingniu, Pangso, Ekhao and Patso Nokeng.
The director also monitored the progress of the watershed projects being implemented in the area and interacted with the people to learn and understand the problems faced by them and ascertain their needs and aspirations.
During the field visit, Mhathung also inaugurated the community utility center at Longkitpeh, rest house at Kingjung and Pathso Nokeng which were constructed under EPA-IWMP and in convergence with BRGF. The director and his visiting team also reviewed the progress of activities in the SPEED villages (Special Programme for Environmental and Economic Development) at Longitpeh and Ekhao villages, which were adopted by the department in commemoration of the 50th year of statehood. Director expressed satisfaction of the positive changes taking place in these villages and encouraged them to continue with the same zeal and enthusiasm.
