Landowners allege NHIDCL nexus in Kohima-Jessami road

DIMAPUR, SEP 1 (NPN)

Aggrieved landowners affected by the Kohima-Jessami two-lane road construction project (packages 2B to 5) have urged the state government to initiate an administrative investigation into the alleged nexus between the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and the then nodal officer during the compensation process.
In a press release, aggrieved landowners convenor Kuveluyi Chuzho informed that they have formally written to the chief secretary on the issue.
Chuzho stated that a careful examination of information obtained through RTI Act revealed “numerous anomalies” in the compensation process, including instances where single structures were compensated twice, husband and wife were compensated for the same house, and compensation being granted for standing structures located far beyond the Right of Way (ROW).
He said that aggrieved landowners have faced undue hardships since 2021 due to those irregularities.
