Chief minister (CM), T. R. Zeliang Thursday said that landowners should allow development to take place in their respective lands, without any hindrances, because the infrastructure will definitely being economic activity and development in the future. In his formal address to the gathering, after the inauguration of Jalukie, ADC headquarters, he said that, the people should jointly cooperate with the government on all fronts to see the reality of development.
According to DIPR, the CM contended that it was always the collective effort that yielded the positive dividends, and said that willingness to create a congenial atmosphere for developmental works should be the mindset, adding that we should abhor negativity when it comes to development of infrastructure for the people.
Greater task and challenges are ahead of us to transform the future of the upgraded township he said, referring up gradation of Jalukie SDO (C) administrative headquarters to ADC.
He asked the gathering to preserve Jalukie’s reputed appellation as the heart of the ‘Rice Bowl of Nagaland’ and said that their produce could be exported to the rest of the state and even beyond. He impressed upon the gathering to not utilize technology because it can prove detrimental if not properly channelled for our wellbeing. He spoke about e-tendering and global tendering systems approved by the cabinet for all work orders exceeding Rs. One crore, citing the Nagaland Express Highway, which connects Tizit in Mon to Khelma in Peren and Arunachal Trunk Road as examples for the Global Tendering System.
Zeliang also mentioned the two lane road from Maram to Dimapur via Peren and Jalukie which was inaugurated by the Union Minister on November 3, 2015, and announced that the Prime Minister had approved ninety thousand crore for development of roads in the North-East, of which Nagaland has a major share.
On the subject of the expected assembly elections, he said that we all talk about clean elections, but they should really be clean and that it cannot be a one sided exercise. He also added that the solution to the Naga issue was what the people wanted and his government was ready to give way for the solution.
The CM also called upon the gathering to remember legendary Zeliang leaders like the Late Namgangheing, Lt. Kebau, Lt. Ikiesing, Lt. Kensam etc. and their visionary leadership to establish a township like Jalukie in the present location, which is in close proximity to the commercial hub of Dimapur and the state capital, Kohima. He also contended that up-gradation of the administrative headquarters is due to the rapidly increasing population which needed to be tackled on different fronts.
