Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has sought immediate intervention of the department of school education into the situation being faced by students of Noklangsangba Government High School (NGHS) Lirmen, where a devastating landslide on August 27, 2023 caused severe damage to the school building that houses students of class 9 and class 10. In a representation to the principal director school education, AKM president Lanutoshi Aier and general secretary Satemmongba stated that natural disaster has disrupted regular classes, leaving students in a precarious situation.
AKM said the school administration temporarily relocated classes to the assembly hall. However, assembly hall lacked the necessary infrastructure and facilities. AKM has therefore urged the department to assess the extent of damage to the school building and expedite necessary repairs or reconstruction.
Further, AKM appealed to the department to provide interim solutions to mitigate the academic disruptions faced by students.
