The Longchang Area Students’ Union (LASU) has declared its full support for the Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) in its demand for a review and restructuring of Nagaland’s job reservation policy based on population ratio.
In a statement issued by LASU through its media cell emphasized that the demand represents a collective call for justice, equality, and rightful recognition. The union asserted that aligning job reservations with population ratios would uphold the principles of equitable representation and fair distribution of opportunities.
Highlighting the challenges faced by the Konyak tribe, one of the largest tribal communities in Nagaland, LASU noted that the current reservation framework has contributed to systemic marginalization, rising unemployment, and economic distress among educated youth. The union warned that continued delay in addressing the issue could lead to frustration and potential social disharmony.
LASU urged the state government to initiate timely steps toward restructuring the reservation policy to ensure fairness and inclusivity. Reaffirming its solidarity with KSU, the union pledged to work collectively for the upliftment and protection of the rights of the people. The statement concluded with a call for constructive dialogue and policy reform to secure a just future for all communities in Nagaland.
