Ale Apon and Senevelü of Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School (RGHSS), Kohima, were honored with the late Sudha Das Meritorious Award for Girl Student for their outstanding performance in the recently declared HSLC results under the Nagaland Board of School Education.
The award ceremony, held at the RGHSS auditorium, was graced by Sourav Roy, husband of Late Sudha Das, along with Nobin Pradhan, President of the Nagaland Gorkha Association, RGHSS Principal C.K. Bharti, and other dignitaries. The awards, which include cash prizes of Rs 50,000 and Rs 40,000 with citations, were presented by Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima President Santu Thapa and retired government teacher Budha Lama.
Ale Apon, who scored 88.5%, received the top award, while Senevelü, with 77.4%, secured the second award. Both students expressed gratitude towards the late Sudha Das’ family, teachers, and their school for their support. Sourav Roy highlighted the purpose of the award, noting that it was instituted in honor of Late BK Das, father of Sudha Das, who was the former Headmaster of RGHSS. Pradhan also announced that the award, initially planned for three years, would be continued by the family.
RGHSS vice principal Sedengunuo Solo also delivered a short speech. The event was chaired by RGHSS teacher Thenulenuo, invocation by teacher Denuvi and a special performance by RGHSS students.
