The Lotha Baptist Churches Association (LBCA) on September 21 held a formal welcome and handover ceremony at Yikhum Baptist Church for its new Executive Secretary, Dr. Renbi Rangthang, and outgoing Executive Secretary, Rev. Khonbemo P. Kikon. The programme was held under the theme “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).
In his address, Dr. Renbi Rangthang expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity and for the trust and confidence placed in him. He said he had accepted the position after prayer and spiritual discernment, believing it to be a calling from God. He emphasized his commitment to work towards unity among the churches and appealed for the prayers, support, and cooperation of all in carrying out the ministry.
Outgoing Executive Secretary Rev. Khonbemo P. Kikon reflected on his tenure since August 4, 2022. He spoke of God’s guidance during his term and shared his efforts to unite divided churches, stating that his service was not for personal gain but for reconciliation. He also highlighted aspects of LBCA’s journey and finances during his tenure.
Preacher Dr. Amos Humtsoe, delivering the sermon, spoke on God’s love for the Lotha community and urged the churches to embrace forgiveness and unity. He cautioned that continued division could lead to missed opportunities for youth and future generations and called for humility, mutual respect, and collective effort in walking with God’s guidance.
The programme was chaired by Rev. Rentsamo Kithan, while the prayer for the ordination of the new LBCA Executive Secretary was led by Rev. Ezanbemo Odyuo and a special song was also presented by the Yikhum Church Choir.
