As part of Lions Clubs International’s Global Cause on Mental Health, the Lions Club of Dimapur Elite observed Mental Health & Well-being Week from October 4 to 12, 2025, conducting a series of community-focused programmes to promote mental wellness and reduce stigma.
According to a press release, the initiatives were led by Club president Meena Sethi, secretary Prernaa Maheswarri, treasurer Sakchi Jainand, and spearheaded by Payal Jain and Kajal Jain.
The week-long observance addressed mental health through emotional, physical, and educational dimensions.
Highlights included a Mental Health Talk Show with counselling psychologist Rashi Jain in collaboration with 24×7 News Channel, a webinar on mental health awareness, and free online and offline counselling sessions. Wellness activities featured yoga and breathing exercises led by Rita Singh, State president of Mahila Patanjali Yog Samiti, and a zumba session conducted by DWS Academy.
The club also carried out a pamphlet distribution drive across banks and hospitals to disseminate awareness materials and educate the public on mental well-being and available support resources.
Meanwhile, in a separate programme marking World Mental Health Day, the Lions Club of Dimapur organised a mental health awareness seminar at St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School auditorium on October 10. The event aimed to promote mental well-being and reduce stigma surrounding mental health issues.
Dr. Althea S. Wotsa, Consultant Psychiatrist at Faith Hospital & Institute of Medical Sciences and Co-Director of Mindbloom Wellness Centre, served as the resource person. She also judged a painting competition held on the same theme within the school premises.
The seminar, chaired by Lion Dr. Arihant Jain, witnessed active participation from over 300 students. President Lion Sanjay Jaiswal informed that the session concluded with a questionnaire round, allowing students to clarify doubts and engage meaningfully on mental health topics.
