Local Drugs Control Authority (LDCA), Dimapur, has issued a circular cautioning against unauthorized inspections and verifications of drug licenses by NGOs, councils, and other entities.
Assistant Drugs Controller Dimapur Zone, L. Martemjen Longkumer, citing the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940, and the Drugs & Cosmetics Rules, 1945, said that only DCA is authorized to conduct inspections and verifications related to the manufacturing, sale, and distribution of drugs and cosmetics.
Any inspections or verifications carried out by unauthorized agencies were illegal and violate the provisions of the Act, it added.
Further, retailers and wholesalers operating within the Dimapur Zone– including Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Niuland, and Peren—have been directed not to entertain any verification by unauthorized entities except the Drugs Control Authority.
