LDDU, LDCCI repair Longleng-Changtongya road

In a continuous effort to improve the deplorable road condition and to stay connected with the rest of the other districts of the state, two days Longleng-Changtongya major road repairing was carried out by the combine team of Longleng District Drivers Union and Longleng District Chambers of Commerce & Industries from September 28-29.
LDDU and LDCCI lamented that the only life line for the people of Longleng district and other parts of the Eastern Nagaland districts remains in a deplorable condition most of the year where commuters had to encounter on this unattended road and sometimes even remain cut off for a week. 
It said that several organizations has extended their voluntary services in repairing the said road in previous occasion too taking into account the suffering of the general public’s of the district and to apprise the state government and the concern department to take in to consideration the plight of the people of the district.  However, neither state government nor concern department has taken up the issue of this 34 kilometers stretch road till date.
 “One has to travel whole day or had to spend the day and night on 34 kilometers stretch road due to road block or sometimes technical problem’’ said one of the driver who was a part of road repairing party.
 A villager who came to join with road repairing party said “it has been four years with no road visible after infamous road Construction Company took up two lane project some years back”.
The villager also said that “small visible” road before the project started had vanished and the company left the work all of a sudden leaving the people of Longleng district to suffer with this present road condition. 
 It may be mention that two lane road construction project between Longleng-Changtongya was started in the year 2011 by road construction company M/s. Maytas gayatri JV under SARDP NE/State Plan/PH-1. The said road construction was to be completed in the month February 2014. However, the company had left the project all of a sudden in the last part of 2012.
Meanwhile, LDDU, LDCCI have expressed its gratitude to district administration, police, churches of Longleng Town and well wishers for rendering their help throughout the two days road repairing.
 The union also appealed to the state government to immediately take up the abandoned road project with the concern company and resume the work at the earliest so that justice was delivered to people of Longleng district.
