Naga students’ Union, Bangalore (NSUB) organised its first leadership orientation program on 19 July at SCMI Hall, Bangalore for the Union’s leaders and its eleven Sub-Units (Tribal Unions).
Union’s Finance Secretary, Akukuna Zeliang welcomed all delegates for their effort in attending the program. Invocation and words of encouragement was delivered by NCFB Pastor Zhabu Yimsung. He blessed the delegates with the Apostle Paul’s advice to Timothy based on 1Tim4:12, pointing out that, ‘the leaders are not to control but to influence’.
‘Purpose and Expectation’ of the program was drawn by Aran A Chihui, President NSUB. He addressed the delegates that people and their land needed radical and dynamic leaders with integrity which was not only immediate but also the ultimate. He connected the concept with a statement, ‘I believe in the future of the Nagas and I live in the present -today’. President reaffirmed that the Union was on the move and its endeavor would enable the leaders serving in every capacity to scale new heights.
Rev. Dr Chris Gnanakan, Professor and HOD of Pastoral Theology and Counselling, SAIACS and Fr. Tom Polackal, Assistant Director of Don Bosco Renewal Centre were the resource persons. Dr Gnanakan spoke on the topic ‘The Dynamics of Teamwork and Collective Leadership’. Fr. Polackal took the second session on the topic ‘Leaders: Vision with Integrity’. He strategically shared in the line of Jesus’ perfect leadership challenging the gathered leaders with the question, ‘Do you have something (as a leader) that others need?’ The Union’s objective and its initiative was further strengthened by the overwhelming response from the 40 delegates during the ‘Reflection Hour’ with unbroken hundred percent feedbacks on the success of the program.The orientation program concluded with a moment of humbling oneself before the Lord with consecration and mass prayer.
