Learn to fit in any situation, Kikheto to students

Nagaland University students’ Union (NUSU) Kohima campus, Meriema held its 25th annual parting social under the theme “Invigorating the infinite knowledge” with secretary Land Resources, Y. Kikheto Sema IAS as chief guest and IT, software consultant and entrepreneur, Er. Yanpvuo Kikon as the guest of honour held here at RCEMPA Jotsoma on Friday.
Kikheto in his address encouraged the student community not to stop learning in their every stage of life, advising them to learn to face any challenge to fit in any situation.
He said everyone has to keep learning and moving forward in everyday life and produce positive result to contribute to the society.
Stressing the importance of knowing the state’s history, he said the student community should know that Nagaland state was formed and created out of political agreement giving birth to Article 371 (A). However, he maintained one should not misuse and misinterpret the special provision of Nagaland.
He encouraged the students to have broad mind and build good relationship among Nagas and with neighbours, adding that Naga are small group of people and should not be made smaller by division.
The chief guest challenged the students whom he termed as future leaders to fight against corruption in “our” present society including the wrong electioneering system in the state. He also stated that Nagaland lacks good and able leaders to lead the society.
He further urged the gathering to be a part of solution in solving the problem and support clean election in the state.
Er. Yanpvuo Kikon in his address advised the students to keep learning and never stop reading even after completing their academic studies.
Citing his life example, he said “talent is skill and skill is talent” and urged them to keep learning and doing to master any skill.
Kikon encouraged the students not to seek only government job but to go out and explore, learn something and come back to serve “our” society.
He reminded the young people that everything starts from a humble beginning.
Earlier, the programme was led by Sharon, women co-ordinator NUSU KC, invocation prayer was said by Khamhi Konyak president NUEU.
Presidential address was delivered by Nganglang L. Ong president NUSU KC, Seyievinuo Chuzho and Lochano Tungoe presented special songs, outgoing president NUSU KC Thongo Khenpong Konyak said valedictory speech and special prayer for the outgoing students was invoked by Dr. Vetso Koza, associate pastor CBCK,

Later, vote of thanks was proposed by Thangpong Khiamniungan GS NUSU KC while closing prayer was said by Khropfolo Lasuh prayer secy. NUEU.
In the second session there was entertainment and extravaganza programme. Nagaland university Kohima campus has more than 600 students and nine departments with students coming from the neighbouring states like Manipur and Meghalaya.
