Legal awareness session at Hovishe village

DIMAPUR

As part of the ongoing Special Awareness Campaign under Sankalp, the District Administration and District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Niuland, organised a legal awareness session on September 8 at the council hall, Hovishe village, Niuland district.
A DIPR report informed that, District Mission Coordinator, V. Vily Chophy, delivered the introductory remarks and highlighted the objectives and initiatives of Mission Shakti. Resource person, Visheli H. Yeptho, Panel Lawyer, Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA), conducted a capacity-building session covering key legislations including the Domestic Violence Act, Protection of Women from Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, Dowry Prohibition Act, and Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (ITPA). The session aimed to equip participants with knowledge of their legal rights and protections.
Women from various sections of society, including members of Sumi Totimi Loka and Self Help Groups, attended the programme. The session reaffirmed the commitment of the District Administration and DHEW, Niuland, to promoting women’s empowerment and legal awareness through the Sankalp initiative.
