LEH holds COVID-19 ‘special focus’ campaign

Lotha Eloe Hoho (LEH) organised a COVID-19 awareness campaign on August 5at Town Hall, Bhandari.

According to a DIPR report, while speaking at the programme, additional deputy commissioner, Bhandari, Tiameren Chang thanked the district administration, medical fraternity and departments for the support rendered to the sub-division during the pandemic. He added that their support made it possible for Bhandari sub-division to be one of the most “efficient blocks”.

Being a vast inter-state bordering area, he said the sub-division of Bhandari needs extra effort to render the desired health services to the public at such a challenging time.

Chang called upon the frontline workers, ASHA and health workers to encourage the public at the grassroots level through correct information, sensitisation and awareness to dispel the fear of testing and vaccination.

Speaking on efficacy and safety of vaccination, UNDP, CMO Wokha, Chumdemo Kikon, who was the campaign speaker, emphasised on the need of the public to educate themselves with the right information rather than being misled by rumours from wrong sources.

He assured that just like any other vaccines such as measles, chickenpox or rubella vaccines, all required steps of clinical trials and tests have been completed during the process of development of any vaccine for human health safety.

Lauding the participation of women in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in different capacities, LEH president, Zuchobeni Ezong shared that the role of women for a strong, secure and progressive society in the present time was very important.

She called upon them to remain active and resourceful for the society and to continue to contribute their valuable services to contain the pandemic.

Ezong also thanked Eloe Hoho Bhandari unit for rendering logistic support for the campaign.

The programme was chaired by LEH vice president, Renboni Jami.
