LFI College conducts mock drill on disaster preparedness

Disaster Management Club and IQAC of Livingstone Foundation International College (LFIC) in collaboration with the State Disaster Response Force conducted a mock drill on disaster preparedness in the College on April 29.
A team of 20 members led by ASI Civil Defense and Home Guards, Dimapur, Angukato K Yeptho carried out various activities.
Prior to the drill and activities, Yeptho emphasized on the need to be prepared on any eventuality of disasters especially earthquakes as the state fall under active Seismic zones.
He further said that even though the state has well trained and prepared professionals to tackle disasters that can occur in the state, it was necessary for young students also to have the basic skills to be rescue-ready if any need arises in the future.
At the mock drill, series of exercises were carried out by the team along with the teaching faculty and students of the College.
A mock drill and evacuation preparedness during earthquakes was also conducted.
The team also demonstrated on how to provide first aid to injured individuals before the arrival of rescue team, applying bandages to different kinds of injuries and how to make basic improvised rescue equipment with available resources at hand for rescue.
Demonstration on how to carry out a CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) for adults as well as infants were also carried out.
Earlier, the programme started with an opening remark from IQAC co-coordinator, L Achilo Kikon and ended with a note of thanks by co-ordinator Disaster Management Club, Imti Yaden.
