Lotha Hoho (LH), Wokha has conveyed its “heartfelt” appreciation and congratulations to Mhonbeni Ezung on receiving the 2014 National Bravery Award.
In a press release, Lotha Hoho chairman Mhao Humtsoe and general secretary Mhondamo Ovung described the award, presented by the Prime Minister on the eve of 2015 Republic Day in New Delhi, as “remarkable achievement”.
Signatories said the story of 8-year-old Mhonbeni Ezung was not only of bravery, but also an exceptional act of “presence of mind and determination”, which the Hoho admires.
Further, the hoho congratulated Mhonbeni Ezung for bringing laurels to Nagaland and the Lotha community.
“This achievement of Miss Mhonbeni is worthy of emulation; by all children and adults as well,” Hoho said and wished her the very best in all her endeavours. Hoho also prayed Almighty grant her the wisdom and courage to achieve more in the future also.
Meanwhile, Lotha Mhonka Okho (LMO) felicitated Mhonbeni Ezung, recipient of National Bravery Award 2014, at an informal meeting in New Delhi on January 26.
In a press release, LMO congratulated Ezung for bringing laurel to Naga community at large and Lothas in particular. The union also lauded the brave action of the young girl who saved the life of her grandmother.
Further, appreciating the brave girl, Lotha Mhonka Okho said it was highly commendable and she deserved the award. Union asserted Ezung has set an example for other youngsters to emulate.
Mhonbeni was awarded with a medal, certificate and cash under the scheme. Financial assistance would also be granted until she completes her schooling as a token for her bravery.
She was among the 24 kids who received the bravery award.
