LH, RH call for indefinite NH 2 bandh from June 10

Lotha Hoho (LH) and Rengma Hoho (RH) have decided to impose indefinite total bandh on National Highway 2, Tseminyu and Wokha sectors, with effect from June 10, 5 a.m. including Sundays.
Announcing the bandh, LH president Mhao Humtsoe and RH president, Kenyuseng Tep accused state government of failing to respond to the joint ultimatum submitted to the NHAN on April 30, 2016.
In the ultimatum, LH and RH served 15-day deadline to NHAN for widening of NH 2.
Despite the deadline expired on May 2, 2016, there was no action initiated by NHAN, the Hohos alleged.
LH and RH also alleged that the inaction of the NHAN was due to “politicisation” and “resultant corruption” in tendering and allotment of contract work.
Stating that they were utterly disappointed with the indifferent attitude of the NH authorities, the LH and RH said that they have no other option; but to launch agitation by imposing an indefinite total bandh on NH 2.
They also cautioned that NHAN would be held responsible for any eventuality that may arise during the bandh period.
However, paramilitary, media, medics on patient duty, ambulance and fire service on emergency would be exempted from the purview of the stir.
Further, the Hohos advised the government employees, posted within Tseminyu and Wokha, to be in their station prior to the bandh, failing which the Hohos would not be responsible for any absence.
LH and RH have also decided not to respond to any call by any authority, on the matter, except by way of negotiation at Tseminyu/Wokha.
