Liangmai Baptist youth retreat held on theme ‘Awaken’

DIMAPUR: Kohima Liangmai Baptist Church D. Block and Bayavu organised a youth retreat on October 19 under the theme “Awaken,” based on 1 Thessalonians 5:6, at Awo Ki, opposite Congress Bhavan, Kohima. Dr. Albert M. Chawang, Faculty at North East Christian University, Dimapur, was the resource person.
Delivering a sermon, Dr. Chawang connected biblical truths with the daily pressures faced by young people, urging them to continue their faith journey with perseverance. He noted that youth often encounter intense pressure, fear of failure, and social anxiety, but reminded them that “God does not wait until you are older or fully qualified to use you.”
Referring to 1 Thessalonians 5:6, he exhorted, “Let us not be like others who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.” He encouraged the youth to live with spiritual vigilance, clear headedness, and readiness. Dr. Chawang further urged them to choose prayer, honesty, and integrity in daily work and relationships instead of reacting in anger or falling into moral laziness. He described the Day of the Lord’s coming as unexpected, “like a thief in the night,” and emphasised that staying awake means being prepared, faithful, and actively doing God’s will rather than wasting time on self indulgence.
The day long programme was organised by youth pastor Kungkam and youth president Withuiliu.
