LIC Dimapur celebrates golden jubilee

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) Dimapur branch celebrated golden jubilee at its branch office on Monday.
Addressing the gathering, Senior Branch Manager, Sanjay Chakraborty expressed profound gratitude, highlighting the significance of the occasion. He emphasized that celebrating 50 years since establishment was a momentous achievement, especially in the realm of insurance services, pointing that only a select few branches has reached the milestone.


He underscored the contributions of LIC associated with the branch, attributing their dedication and hard work to its sustained success.
He said many underperforming branches typically faced closure, but added that the LIC Dimapur branch has consistently excelled, reflecting the robustness of the institution.


Reflecting on LIC’s remarkable journey spanning 68 years in India, Chakraborty highlighted the corporation’s significant impact, including an annual dividend of Rs 2000 crores to the government of India, originating from an initial investment of Rs. 5 crores in 1958, by the government of India.


Chakraborty informed that there were 2048 branches and 1600 satellite officers nationwide, supported by eight zonal offices and one central office in the country, with LIC Dimapur branch standing tall as a beacon of excellence and resilience.
He also added that with 29 crores policyholders across the nation, LIC’s growth trajectory continues unabated, reflecting its unwavering commitment in serving the nation.


In an era marked by tax evasion, Chakraborty proudly announced that the Income Tax department had reimbursed approximately Rs. 22000 crores back to LIC for payment of excessive tax.


It can be noted that LIC Dimapur branch comprises of 35 staff members and 387 agents. The jubilee celebration witnessed candle lighting ceremony by prominent members of the office and cake cutting ceremony.
